Young people enjoy Special Olympics at DHS

Jayden Brown - Editor

On Thursday, January 25, Dyersburg High School hosted the Special Olympics. All special needs classes in the community were invited to compete in basketball activities in the DHS gym.

DHS Beta students volunteered for the event along with girls and boys basketball players. The students worked in groups to complete every station, which included aiming to throw the ball into a marked square on the wall, dribbling the ball around cones and shooting free throws.

After completing the activities, the score sheets were given to judges who calculated the placings in each group. Every student was awarded a ribbon, and the event was a great opportunity for special needs students to participate in a competition. Students wrapped up their fun morning with a pizza party for lunch. DHS is very thankful for every volunteer and student who made this event possible.
