On Tuesday, October 18, the DHS Cross Country team met and competed at Martin Westview City Park. Members of the team had several personal victories that contributed to Dyersburg’s success.

Despite the unseasonably frigid afternoon, freshman Adallani Lopez beat her personal record, clocking in at 27 minutes and 55 seconds. This placed Lopez in 34th place out of 187 female contestants. Along with Lopez, Junior Demar Thomas beat his personal record, with a time of 26:33. Sophomore Blayne Cecil finished in 23 minutes and 2 seconds, placing him in 144th place out of 244 male participants. Lastly, sophomore Kamani Stevenson set her new best time at 28:14.

“We’ve had our ups and downs this season, but somehow we managed to pull through and set new records for ourselves,” Stevenson said.

The Cross Country team will compete at Martin Westview again on Tuesday, October 25.
