On Friday, August 18, Dyersburg High School hosted the Bicentennial Bowl season opener against Dyer County. The Bicentennial Bowl holds a great deal of importance to fans across the county with traditions and events surrounding the game.

Both Dyersburg and Dyer County's band students met for dinner before the game. Additionally, students from each school united to hold the Woodmen Life Red, White, and Blue Flag Ceremony as DHS's choir gathered to sing the National Anthem. Dyersburg's student section rocked their theme "black-out," wearing only black attire to show their Trojan Spirit!

The game kicked off quickly with a Dyer County touchdown followed by a touchdown from Dyersburg's John Morris Trowbridge. The Trojans secured the extra point with senior Nick Medlin tying the match up at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. Trowbridge and Medlin managed seven more points for Dyersburg in the second quarter, ending the first half at 14-7 with the Trojans in the lead!

At the beginning of the second half, seniors AJ Higgins and Armod Dubose scored touchdowns, bringing the Trojans to a 26-7 point lead. To finish off, Higgins scored again, this time a touchdown of 45 yards to conclude the Dyersburg-Dyer County Bicentennial Bowl with a final score of 33-7. Go Trojans!

The Trojans will play this Friday at home against the Lake County Falcons.
