Trojans and Lady Trojans dominate in win over Ripley Tigers

Both the Lady Trojans and Trojans faced the Ripley Tigers at “The Glove” Tuesday night. Both teams performed in a dominant fashion, taking home the wins and never trailing in either game.

The Lady T​​rojans won convincingly 35-20. Only 10 points combined were scored in the first quarter before the Lady Trojans went on a 15-point scoring spree- Joya Crawford scoring 6 of the 15 points- before the half, making the score 23-11 going into halftime. Strayhorn’s team scored 5 points in the 3rd quarter, 3 of them coming from a clutch three by Katheleen Harrell, to make the score 28-18. Crawford tacked on another 5 of the team's 7 4th quarter points to help the Lady Trojans secure the win. The leading scorers tonight were Joya Crawford- 17 points, Kathleen Harrell- 8 points, Chelby Jordan- 6 points.

Coach Blaine Mahaffey’s squad dominated the Tigers for all four quarters winning 64-40. After a quarter of play, the Trojans were up 13-9 on the Tigers with 4 points coming from guard Ace Mahaffey and 4 points from forward Jaylon Brown. Brown scored another 4 points in the second quarter to help give the Trojans a 27-19 lead going into halftime. After halftime, the Trojans' offense exploded, scoring 29 points in the 3rd quarter. Forwards Ryan Lowrance and Mikey McLin led the way in the 3rd quarter, scoring 8 and 4 points respectively. Mikey McLin tacked on another 4 points for the Trojans in the 4th quarter to help secure the win. The leading scorers for the Trojans were Ryan Lowrance- 13 points, Jaylon Brown- 12 points, Ace Mahaffey- 9 points.

The Trojans and Lady Trojans begin the Charles Cowles Classic on Friday, Dec 16 in the Terry Glover Gymnasium.
