Trojan Volleyball experiences busy week

The Lady Trojan Volleyball team started their busy week in Newbern against Dyer County. They rounded out the week with matches against USJ and Milan, and face Westview, Crockett and Obion in the upcoming days.

Tuesday night, the Lady Trojans battled in their last inter-county rivalry game of the regular season. The Trojans fell short in a 3-0 game (18-25, 13-25, & 15-25) and have added another district loss to their record.

Although it was not quite enough to win the series, Senior Bailee Robinson had 6 kills and 2 blocks, Senior Brooklyn Harrison had 3 kills and 1 ace, Junior Courtney Richardson had 2 kills, Junior Brinlee Robinson had 3 kills, Sophomore Addie Gatlin had 3 blocks, and Sophomore Preslee Quertermous had 3 kills and 1 block.

Wednesday night the girls traveled to USJ. They lost in a 3-2 match against the Bruins. The Trojans lost the first, third, and fifth sets 15-25, 16-28, and 8-15 respectively. They took the second and fourth sets 25-18 and 25-10. Junior Alli Alford had 3 aces, Sophomore Preslee Quertermous had 4 kills, Junior Brinlee Robinson had 6 kills, Senior Bailee Robinson had 12 kills and 1 ace, Junior Hope Colbert had 3 kills and 4 aces, Junior Courtney Richardson had 14 kills, Sophomore Addie Gatlin had 3 kills, and Senior Brooklyn Harrison had 2 kills and 3 aces, and Senior Jasmin Olvera had 1 kill and 1 ace.

Thursday the team traveled one last time for the week to Milan, and battled the bulldogs to five sets, but suffered another 3-2 loss. The Trojans fought hard against the bulldogs, taking the first and third set (25-21 and 25-23) and dropping the second, fourth, and fifth set (23-25, 19-25, and 7-15).

The Lady Trojans have 3 more regular season games: Westview, Crockett County, and Obion County on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, respectively. They will close out the week with a Quad State tournament in Paducah, Kentucky before the district tournament starts on October 1.
