Today, March 21, is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. According to https://www.worlddownsyndromeday.org/ this day has been celebrated by the United Nations since 2012. This year's theme is "With us, not for us," and people worldwide are asked to remember this day with the "Lots of Socks" campaign by wearing silly socks. The site says that silly socks get people talking, which can lead to a conversation about Down Syndrome.
The DHS English department and a few other teachers all collaborated today to wear silly socks to honor this day that has been set aside for Down Syndrome awareness.
