This week’s Staff Member of the Week is Spanish teacher Lori Finley. She has taught at DHS for 34 years, not counting the 4 years she was a student here. When she started at DHS she taught English for half a day and Spanish for half a day. Since then, she has taught Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and Spanish 3.
Mrs. Finley did not originally plan to go into the education field, but changed her mind. “I enjoy helping others and education has allowed me to do that,” Finley said.
Mrs. Finley says that her favorite part of Dyersburg High School is the students and that she loves seeing the light bulb turn on for students in the classroom.
Outside of teaching Spanish, Mrs. Finley also gives advice to her students about their futures.
“My advice to students is don’t sell yourself short,” Finley said. “I often tell students that there are a lot of opportunities out there if you're willing to do the work to take advantage of them.”
Mrs. Finley is a great addition to Dyersburg High School and we are very grateful for her work.
