Staff member of the week: Mr. Stenberg

Zoe Brown - Section Editor

This week’s staff member of the week is Mark Stenberg, who teaches World History, AP US Government and AP Seminar. He has taught at Dyersburg High School for fifteen years.

Mr. Stenberg originally worked in the manufacturing industry before becoming an educator. But after hearing complaints about the education system in Tennessee he decided he wanted to help make a change. “I saw some things that I did not agree with. But rather than just sitting there and just taking shots at education and not doing anything to help, I left my job to become an educator. I was trying not to just sit there and talk about the problems, but to be a difference maker and do more than just complain about it from the outside,” Stenberg said.

Mr. Stenberg says that his favorite part of Dyersburg High School is working with the students and the vast amount of options that are available at DHS.

“When I see students grow over four years and become nice, good adults, that is my favorite part,” Stenberg said, “DHS provides students with many more options for their education than a lot of the other high schools in this area.”

Outside of teaching, Mr. Stenberg also gives advice to his students.

“Never stop learning. It does not matter how old you are. Just keep learning,” Stenberg said.

The students are very grateful for the academic attributions Mr. Stenberg has made here at Dyersburg High School.
