During Thursday night’s game, the Dyersburg Trojan soccer team defeated the Obion Rebels in a clean sweep. Within the first few minutes of the game, keeper Masen Autry prevented Obion from scoring followed by a shot on target by senior Ryan Lowrance. Lowrance redeemed this missed shot by scoring a goal almost immediately after with an assist from junior Caleb Stone. Later, Medlin scored a goal of his own by driving the ball into the goal from a close distance. The Rebels attempted to compensate for the goals but did not. Medlin’s goal was followed by two shots on target by Obion, one of which bounced off the top of the goal above Autry. Before the end of the first half, Autry proved his skill again by blocking another potential Obion score with a sliding save.

Obion started the second half with a shot on target that was successfully blocked. In the 55th minute, a foul towards Dyersburg prompted a free kick shot for Medlin but was missed. Thirteen minutes later, Lowrance scored his third goal of the night with another assist from Medlin and another several minutes later. A shot on target from Obion was once again blocked by Autry, who dove for the ball to prevent its passing. Obion ended the game with another missed shot on target and a missed free kick. Dyersburg’s persistent defense and impenetrable defense resulted in a 4-0 win against the Obion Rebels. The team will play again at J.C. Sawyers stadium on March 28 against Jackson Christian School.
