The DHS Marching Band competed at the Union City Invitational and WTSBOA Marching Festival Saturday, September 24, at Union City High School.
The band performed their field show entitled “It’s Possible” twice. After the first performance in the WTSBOA Marching Festival, the band was rated in the categories of Field Commander, Color Guard, Percussion and Band Composite. The Field Commander and Percussion received ratings of Superior, and the Band and Color Guard received ratings of Excellent.
“I believe our band did very well in both performances on Saturday. Faced with technical difficulties, strong winds, and high temperatures, our band still persisted and scored well in the adjudication,” percussion section leader Carrie Semmel said.
After receiving feedback on their first performance, the band competed in the Union City Invitational against other Class A bands including Huntington High School, West Carroll Junior Senior High School, McEwen High School and Scotts Hill High School. Percussion received runner-up in Class A.
“Hopefully, with the rest of our show coming after fall break, we will continue to practice and achieve the results that we want,” Semmel said.
The band will perform on Saturday, October 15 at the Gibson County Marching Invitational at Gibson County High School.
