On Monday, Feb 24, the Lady Trojans competed in the District 13AAA Tournament semifinals against the Lady Choctaws.
In the first quarter, KayKay Strayhorn, Joya Crawford, and Chelby Jordan played a hand in the scoring, Crawford dropped 13, Strayhorn scored 5, and Jordan dropped 3 points in the first quarter. Altogether, the Lady Trojans ran up a total of 22 points in the first quarter alone, almost guaranteeing a win if they kept playing with the same momentum and drive.
In the second quarter, the Lady Trojans kept the momentum going. Strayhorn dropped 3, Jordan got 2, Crawford scored 5, and Harrell scored 4. This totaled a score of 14 for the second quarter. With this, the Lady Trojans were in the lead with a halftime score of 36-17, proving that they were ready to take the win.
In the 3rd quarter, the Trojans kept up the driving force by dropping 15 points altogether. Quinn dropped 2, Crawford 2, Maclin 4, and Harrell 3 points. The Trojans played with great chemistry on and off the court, almost ensuring a definite win.
Keeping up the good strategy and power on the court, the Lady Trojans dropped 12 points in the 4th quarter. Jordan dropped 2, Quinn dropped 2, Parr scored 2, Crawford got 4, and Maclin got 2 points.
After a very notable semifinal game, the Lady Trojans pulled through with a final score of 65-44. The Lady Trojans will be back in Dyer County Feb 26, to compete in the tournament finals. Way to go, Lady Trojans!
