The DHS Lady Trojan soccer team dominated the Millington Trojans Saturday night with a final score of 7-0. Goals were led by Zainab Manneh with a hat-trick, as well as two each from Addie Hurt and Virginia Kerber. Defense was led by goalie McKenzie Duggan, who completely shut out the Millington offense. This incredible win sends the Lady Trojans past the TSSAA Regional competition and to the state championship.

“We’re really, really proud of our girls,” head coach Musa Manneh said, “These girls show up every time. Every day we practice, they show up with no complaints. And they showed up today to take care of business: they wanted it and they got better. Up to the end of that second half, these girls showed signs of improvement. It’s really been a fantastic season.”

This proved to be an additionally remarkable night for the team, as both Zainab Manneh and Addie Hurt were recognized for their record-breaking goals this season. After the game, senior Addie Hurt was rewarded as a member of the 100+ goal club, reaching 111 goals so far in her high school soccer career. Junior Zainab Manneh reached her 45th goal of the season, breaking the previous record of 42 - a record previously held for an entire decade.

“It’s so cool watching Zainab beat the record that's been standing for 10 years. I'm so excited to watch them on their journey to state!” junior Zoie Bargery said at halftime.

The first round of the state championship will be held in Chattanooga on Wednesday, October 26 at 1:30 against the Greenville Green Devils.
