Lady Trojans dominate Obion County in senior night win

Taylor Dunn - Reporter

The Dyersburg Trojan volleyball team faced Obion County in a match on September 29. The Trojans dominated the Rebels 3-0. Tonight was also senior night for the Lady Trojans as they honored the three seniors on the team: Brooklyn Harrison, Jasmin Olvera and Bailee Robinson.

Tonight was special for Coach Kaci Lewis, especially after the victory; this is the first group of players she has coached for all four years since she took the helm of the DHS volleyball program in 2019.

“Little more emotional tonight, this is the first group of players I’ve had for four years. They have been a big part of the team, even starting as freshmen on varsity. I have watched them grow not only as volleyball players, but also as student athletes and young women. I’m really going to miss them and we are going to have three really big shoes to fill next year,” Lewis said.

Playing your last game as a senior is a bittersweet moment for most athletes; the three seniors were asked to look back on their favorite memory playing for DHS.

“Riding in the bus with Coach Gadi,” Robinson said.

“Mine is probably watching Sophie cry during the team ice baths!” Olvera said.

“There’s a lot, but the weekend tournaments in Nashville were my favorite,” Harrison said.

The Lady Trojans advance to district tournament play on October 3.
