On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Lady Trojans competed in the District 13AAA championship against South Gibson’s Lady Hornets.
In the first quarter, Chelby Jordan scored 4, Aerie Quinn dropped 2, and Joya Crawford scored 5. Overall, the Lady Trojans scored 11 points in the first quarter. The Lady Hornets played aggressively throughout the game, making it harder for the Lady Trojans to score points.
In the second quarter, Jordan dropped 2 while Crawford scored 3 points. Due to the vigorous playing style from both teams, the Lady Trojans were only able to land 5 points. By halftime, the Lady Trojans were only up by 2 points, making the score 16 - 14. Fans and players alike were unsure of whether or not the Lady Trojans would end up winning the game.
By the 3rd quarter, the Lady Trojans picked up momentum and landed 13 points as a whole. Jordan scored 6 points, Quinn dropped 2, and Crawford scored 5 points. By the end of 3rd quarter, the Lady Trojans had scored a total of 29 points, representing the tight game they were facing.
In the 4th quarter, the Lady Trojans only scored 3 points total, all landed by Joya Crawford. In this nail-biting quarter, the Lady Hornets caught up quickly, furthering the question of whether or not we were going to be on our way back home with a loss. However, the Lady Trojans were able to outscore the Lady Hornets by 1 point, relieving the players and fans alike.
Overall, the Lady Trojans won 32-31, making them the District 13AAA Champions. Kalli Maclin made the all district academic team, exemplifying her hard work on and off the court. Chelby Jordan, KayKay Strayhorn, Joya Crawford, and Kalli Maclin made the 2025 all-district team, showing their determination and great game strategy. Aerie Quinn, Chelby Jordan, and Joya Crawford made the 2025 all-tournament team, also showing their athleticism and determination. Joya Crawford won MVP for the 2024 13AAA District tournament! Congratulations, girls, and Go Trojans!
