On Wednesday, March 5, the Lady Trojans played the Lady Hornets in the championships of the Region 7 AAA tournament. This was a rematch from the previously nail-biting game,  with the same atmospheric feeling of question whether or not the girls would be on the way to a 2-peat for state champions.

In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans started off strong with scoring 13 points total, while South Gibson only scored 2. Notable points from KayKay Strayhorn (5 pts), Chelby Jordan (2 pts), and 6 points from Joya Crawford. By this point, many had hope that the girls would pull through with a region championship win.

By the second quarter, the Lady Trojans kept the same momentum with scoring 14 more points, however, the Lady Hornets were catching up quick, with a total of 11 points scored in this quarter. Fans were positive and confident in the Lady Trojans ability to win this game, as they had previously shown throughout the regular season. Strayhorn scored 3 points, Jordan scored 3, and so did Crawford. Kelli Maclin scored 2 points in the 2nd quarter swell. The Lady Trojans were up 27-13, keeping fans confident while going into halftime.

After halftime, the game seemed to make a shift. The Lady Trojans seemed to lose some momentum, but fans and players alike were still confident in the end result of this game. The Lady Trojans only scored 11 points: Strayhorn with 3 points scored, Jordan dropping 3, and Maclin scoring 5 points, 2 from free throws. This game was proving to be just as intense as the District 13AAA championship game, also against the Lady Hornets. By the end of the third, the Lady Trojans were up 38-25, so even though the Hornets were picking up in momentum, they still could not catch up with the Lady Trojans.

In the fourth quarter, it was notable that both the Lady Trojans and Lady Hornets were slowing down in momentum, but the Lady Trojans were still determined to come out with a Region Champion title. The Lady Trojans dropped a total of 7 points, 5 of them being from Jordan and 2 of the points coming from Crawford. The Lady Hornets scored 9 points in the quarter, but nonetheless our girls were still pulling through with the win. The Lady Trojans won the regional championship game with a score of 45-34, proving that they are ready to take on sectionals and state, exciting fans for the potential repeat at the gold ball.

Along with the Region 7AAA champion title, four of our very own were named to the all-tournament team for 2025. Chelby Jordan, KayKay Strayhorn, Joya Crawford, and Aerie Quinn were those named to the 2025 Region 7AAA all-tournament team. Chelby Jordan was also honored as the Most Valuable Player for the Region 73A tournament, proving her drive and athleticism on and off the court. Congrats Lady Trojans! Because of this win, The Lady Trojans will host Millington Saturday night at 7 to start off the sectionals for class AAA sectional tournament. See you at Terry Glover, and Go Lady Trojans!
