Lady Trojans and Trojans fall to district rival Obion County

Both the Lady Trojans and Trojans fell to Obion County Tuesday in two nail biters.

The Lady Rebels held the lead throughout the game. Strayhorn’s team hung with them through the first quarter scoring 13 points to the Lady Rebels 19. Chelby Jordan led the way in the first quarter scoring 8 points. The Lady Trojans fell behind even further in the second quarter trailing by 10 at half, 26-36. The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Trojans 34-31 in the second half to maintain their lead. The final score was 57-70. The leading scorers for Dyersburg were Joya Crawford and Chelby Jordan with 17 points each; the leading scorer for Obion County was Alayna Fussell, 45 points.

Mahaffey’s squad faced the Rebels in a game that went into overtime. The Trojans held the lead in all of the first half, 12-10 in the first quarter and 22-20 in the second quarter. Ace Mahaffey had 8 points and Jaylon Brown had 5 points in the first half to help the Trojans secure the lead. The Trojans continued to maintain their lead in the third quarter 36-29. Obion County caught up in the fourth quarter to tie the Trojans at 45 at the end of regulation even though Ryan Lowrance put on a clinic during the second half scoring 15 points. The Trojans won the tip in overtime and it was unfortunately downhill from there. Mahaffey's squad got into questionable foul trouble during overtime and were outscored 14-7 in overtime. The final score was 52-59, Rebels. The leading scorer for Dyersburg was Ryan Lowrance with 20 points; the leading scorer for Obion County was Wyatt Cunningham with 22 points.

Strayhorn and Mahaffey’s teams face Crockett County at home Thursday night.
