On Thursday, March 13, 2025, the Lady Trojans competed in the TSSAA Class 3A State tournament in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Surrounded by fans from west Tennessee, the girls punched their ticket to semi-finals by beating White County.
In the first quarter, the game was already extremely intense and exciting with a score of 16-15 with White County ahead. Dyersburgs points were from Chelby Jordan scoring 2, Joya Crawford dropping 6, Aerie Quinn landing 3, Kalli Maclin dropping 2, and Bri Parr scoring 2. By the end of the first quarter, it was obvious that the Lady Trojans had some serious competition ahead of them, but it was just as obvious that they weren’t going to let a little competition stop them from winning.
In the second quarter, the Lady Trojans kept the momentum up. With a total of 11 points scored, Crawford dropped 2, Parr landed 5, and Jordan scored 7 points. By the end of the first half, the Lady Trojans were up 29-27, proving that White County would not give up the game anytime soon. The first half of the game kept fans on their feet and crowds chanting with the cheerleaders, as this game had lived up to the expectations of many, all looking forward to another state win.
The second half was nothing less than exciting. By the third quarter, the Lady Trojans scored 9 points, still leading the Warriorettes with a score of 37-36. Jordan landed 3 points, Crawford dropped 2, Parr dropped 2, and Kay Kay Hockett scored 2 points. While this was the lowest scoring quarter for the Lady Trojans, they did not show any signs of losing momentum but rather seemed to be ready to finish the game with a win.
By the final quarter, there was no doubt about it. This was going to be an extremely close game, but fans and athletes alike knew who would come out on top. Keeping up the momentum, the Lady Trojans scored 15 points in this quarter, more than double the amount that the Warriorettes scored in the fourth. Maclin scored 1 point, Jordan dropped 6, Quinn landed 1, Crawford dropped 3, and Hockett scored 4 points. This resulted in the final score of 52-42, proving that the Lady Trojans were determined to advance and, eventually, win the state championship.
With the win against the White County Warriorettes, the Lady Trojans will now advance to the semi-finals and play against Northview Academy. This game will take place Friday, March 14, at 5:15. Go Lady Trojans!
