Persevering through a cancelation and the scheduling of a last-minute game, the DHS Lady Trojan softball team ended the game early with a run-rule win. Facing the Holcomb Lady Hornets, freshman Izzie Odom got the start in the circle. Allowing 7 hits, the defense behind her made only 1 error, holding their opponent to 5 runs. Providing their freshman pitcher with some insurance, the Lady Trojan offense scored 15 runs. They combined for a team batting average of .500 with a .688 on-base percentage. Odom held her own, and led the team in hits (2), batting .667 with a double and a home run. Freshman Lily Kate Jones tied with Odom to lead, with a single and a triple.
The Lady Trojans play again tonight in a district match-up against Obion County. The last time these teams met, DHS walked away with a 9-6 win. Tonight, the Lady Trojans’ only senior Makai Ward will be featured in celebration of Senior Night. Please come out and show these girls your support!
