The Lady Trojan soccer team of Dyersburg High School took on the McKenzie High School Lady Rebels at home on September 8. The game ended with a 1-0 win to add to the 5-0-1 record of the Lady Trojans.

“We played as a team tonight and I honestly couldn’t be prouder. The game was super rough, and although we had some fouls, this game was one of the hardest fought matches of our season,” said junior Anna Staggs.

The first half consisted of back and forth between the two teams as one attempted to gain a lead on the other. Despite many attempts on the goal, no points were scored during the first half.

Eight minutes into the second half of the game, freshman Virginia Kerber scored the first, and only, goal of the game. Through the rest of the game, no more goals were scored, but both teams continued to make attempts on the goal.

The game experienced a few fouls, including a yellow card for a Lady Rebel, but neither team experienced an injury during the contest.
