It was Homecoming Week in Dyersburg, and Trojan Nation showed up and showed out at JC Sawyers stadium Friday night, cheering on their Trojan Football team.

Several class reunions were in full swing, joining family and friends to witness the announcement of the 2022 Homecoming court just before kickoff. Senior Malyn Morgan was recognized as third maid, junior Brinlee Robinson as second maid, and junior Sophie-Claire Stowe as first maid. Senior Caroline Dedmon was crowned by Principal Kamela Rogers as the 2022 Football Homecoming Queen.

Stowe’s boys had been conditioning for this game all week, even putting in a little extra time Friday morning to be ready for the running game.

“We really focused on ourselves, our fundamentals and taking care of our business, and the boys did it,” head coach Bart Stowe said.

The Trojans held a 42-19 lead at the half, partly due to the two turnovers that helped them gain their 151 rushing yards.

The Trojan defense only allowed the Bolivar Tigers 47 yards prior to the half, raising the energy level of the Trojan locker room at halftime much like their score.

The second half of the game was basically a repeat of the first, with the Tigers unable to add any points to the scoreboard. The Trojans scored two more touchdowns, for a total of eight for the night. Junior kicker Nick Medlin went 7-7 on the extra point and freshman Elian Gonzalez rounded it out with the eighth kick to add the final point to the scoreboard.

“They played well on all three phases of the game,” Stowe said, “we all played together and I was really excited about it.”
