Friday, February 10, marks the DHS tour day for the upcoming ninth graders at Dyersburg Middle School. The current eighth graders at DMS hopped on a bus shortly after 8:00 am Friday morning and traveled to the high school to get a taste of the opportunities and experiences available at DHS!

Each group toured a number of locations in the main building and the west wing. They visited the library, where different tables provided information and offered fliers for all clubs offered at DHS. Librarian Cindy Elkins gave a short tour of the countless types of books and their locations. In the rest of the main building, they visited the east office, the atrium, the Little Theater, the cafeteria, and Student Services. They stopped to hear current students and teachers speak about the business and accounting, yearbook, DECA, drama, and STEM classes. Among those that spoke include Julie Walker, Jamie Reynolds, Trevor Yarbrough, Seth Coleman, Rikkia Mallard, Grayson Carr, and Makendra Ezell.

Students also had the chance to see some of the more specialized classes in the west wing, which include welding, art, ceramics, FFA, and HOSA (nursing). These teachers informed the groups about their respective subjects, including Joseph Hardin, Sarah Myint, and Angela Lee.

The complete tour lasted around three hours, however, the opportunities they encountered at Dyersburg High School will last them a lifetime in their future education. DHS students are beyond excited to get to know every new face in the 2023-2024 school year!
