DHS hosts Black and Gold Day

Courtney Richardson - Reporter

The DHS Trojans entertained their community with the Black and Gold Games to open their official season. These games excite the Trojan basketball fans for their upcoming season while maintaining an entertaining environment with some fun boy vs. girl competitions. Opening with a dizzy bat competition, freshman Meredith Zamzow took the lead after completing her spins around a bat and sinking her three-point shots before the boys’ Junior Will Short could. The next game was a classic free throw competition. Participants battled it out to make as many free throws as they could in one minute. The boys won this competition with Junior Justin Sawyer. Next, a three point competition was held. Junior Joya Crawford crushed the competition, barely missing any shots. Finally, the last boy vs girl competition was an NBA challenge. Another freshman, Elizabeth Lemons, showcased her competitiveness by beating Senior Ka’reeson Thomas.

After concluding the boys' vs girls' competitions, the Lady Trojans Basketball team competed in a quarter-long inter-squad. The girls' Black Team secured a win, and the boys’ inter-squad followed. The Gray Team defeated the Gold Team to complete the night. The Basketabll Trojans’ Jamboree is on Saturday, November 11th.
