On October 22, 2020, DHS held its annual football senior night and announced the football homecoming court. Under the Friday night lights, this home game was crammed with recognizing graduating cheerleaders, dance team members, band members and football players. Soon after, the student-body-elected Football Homecoming Queen and maids were revealed. Before kickoff, senior students walked across the turf with their parents as they were recognized for their high school achievements. While many were recognized, a few pieces to each puzzle were not able to appear on their senior night due to being quarantined. Though not there physically, the absent seniors were still recognized for their efforts. The Trojan Football team entertained two-quarters of game time against Liberty, heading into halftime with a score of 20-0. During halftime, girls on the homecoming
court were escorted by their fathers as they were acknowledged for their active presence at DHS and in the community. Once complete, the Football Homecoming Queen and her maids were announced. The royalty is as follows: sophomore Caroline Dedmon - 3rd maid; junior Anna-Blair Jackson - 2nd maid; senior Ashleigh Harris - 1st maid; senior Raegan Hamm - Homecoming Queen. Last Friday night’s event was the first of the few celebrations that have been held during the pandemic. After cancellations to several banquets, awards parties and sports seasons, this opportunity not only celebrated the hard work that students have put into their teams, but the dedication that faculty has put into maintaining a semi-normal school year during this unnatural time period.
