As this school year continues, countless events become victims of COVID-19 by getting canceled or rescheduled to a later time.

This was the case in tonight's game when Dyersburg High School had to cancel the football game because of how many players and fans were sick and getting quarantined.

“I was really looking forward to going to tonight’s football game, getting to spend time with my friends and supporting my team from the crowd,” Senior Keaton Jenson said.

The football game on September 18 had been canceled due to similar reasons regarding COVID-19.

Tonight’s game was also Senior Night, a tradition for each sport upheld annually giving recognition to seniors and their final year.

COVID-19’s effect is felt throughout the community and has played a role in multiple events this year regarding whether or not the event will be held.

“It is what it is. It’s completely out of our control. We just have to roll with the punch and get prepared for our next game,” Quarterback Graham Clark said.

Over the course of the year, we will continue to see COVID-19 have an impact on how events will be held and what precautions will be taken to allow those events to proceed safely.
