Cheer squad captures champion status once again

Hannah Pankey - Reporter

DHS competition cheer received another title recently at the Deep South Beach Nationals in Destin, Florida. They were honored as the champions at the competition. They performed their usual three-minute routine that includes a sideline chant, cheer, band dance and a fight song. Between games and competitions, the squad has given this routine their absolute all and it has paid off. They achieved the highest score of the season at nationals; a 91.4.

While in Destin, the team also enjoyed some time off the mats and on the beach. It was a great opportunity for bonding and spending time with each other. The routine, performed to judges, received zero deductions for the third time in the season. This was their last competition and the cheer season ended with 3 champion titles and 2 grand champion titles. Cheer coaches Kim Yeiter and Georganna Stanley, along with all the members of the squad, have worked hard to portray Dyersburg’s tradition of excellence this season!
