Basketball brings buckets against McNairy

Courtney Richardson - Reporter

The Dyersburg High School girls and boys basketball teams took their first regular season game against McNairy High School. The girls defeated the Lady Wildcats in a 59-50 win. Sophomore Joya Crawford scored 12 points, freshman Aeria Quinn scored 12 points, junior Netala Dixon scored 10 points, freshman Chelby Jordan scored 7 points and senior Addie Hurt scored 4 points.

The school's esteemed janitor, Lance Estes, entertained the fans while riding the Clean-Mobile onto the court to clean up a "spill" from a fan. Mr. Lance was greeted by a boisterous student section with high fives to offer. After the floor was thoroughly cleaned, play resumed and the girls carried out the win.

The boys also swept the Wildcats in a 63-22 dub. Senior Jaylon Brown scored 15 points, senior Ryan Lowrance scored 13 points, junior Ace Mahaffey scored 8 points, senior Malik McLin scored 7 points, junior Thadd Hill scored 6 points, junior Mikey McLin scored 5 points, senior Ty’Mon Harvey scored 4 points, sophomore Breyden Turnage scored 4 points and sophomore Marcus Whorton scored 1 point.

Both teams’ next home game is December 6th against Martin Westview. The expectations for both teams were high going into the season, and thus far they have delivered!
