On Saturday, October 29, the DHS Marching Band competed at the Bethel University Marching Band Invitational. This was the band’s last competition for the year, rounding out the competition season with a final performance of their show, “It’s Possible.”
In Class 2C, the band competed against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School and West Carroll Junior Senior High School. In their class, the band placed 3rd in Drum Major, 3rd in Color Guard, 2nd in Percussion and 2nd in Band. In the small division, the band placed 3rd in Percussion and 3rd in Band.
“From band camp to our first performance, from our first competition to our last competition, we have made progress and gotten better every time. Even though we didn’t get 1st place at this last competition, we still won,” said band director Jayvon Treadway. “Band isn’t about winning first place trophies, it’s about improving. It’s about setting goals and working to achieve them. It's about sticking to it, especially when it gets hard. If you can say, ‘I am better now than I was at the beginning,’ you have won!”
The band will continue to perform their half-time show at home football games, and will begin preparing music for their concerts and parades.
