Band and choir perform for community at annual Christmas concert

Leo Bona - Reporter

On Sunday, Dec 11, the Dyersburg Middle school and High school choirs and bands gave their gift of music for the Christmas concert. The concert, which took place in Dyersburg High School’s little theater, showcased Christmas pieces that the groups had been working on for months in advance.

The theater was more than packed for this occasion, with many people coming to hear the classic Christmas music that was performed. The concert consisted of the sixth grade choir, seventh and eighth grade choir, and the high school choir, all under director Dustin Walters. The concert also consisted of the Middle School band, High School band, and the High School percussion ensemble, all under director Jayvon Treadway.

The concert showcased the talent of the school’s music programs. The Christmas Concert has been an event performed by Dyersburg City Schools' groups for several years with the annual tradition looking to continue into the future.

"We are proud to be back in the theatre to perform for the community after so much time away due to Covid," Walters said.
