Art club prepares for fall by painting festive scenes

Breeanna Brooks - Reporter

On October 12, right in time for fall, the Art Club studied how to paint pictures of an autumn scene decorated with pumpkins. Led by freshman Skyler Mansfield, the class was guided through each step in the painting process, with art teacher Sara Mynt following along as well. As usual, those not in art club were allowed to join the meeting also.

Additionally, drinks and snacks such as water and chips were provided to enjoy during the meeting. Easy-to-follow instructions were given on how to paint everyone’s unique pumpkins. Students with all varying skill levels of art experience, freshmen to seniors, joined the meeting and picked up their paint brushes to participate.

“My painting came out much better than expected because I was honestly just expecting orange blobs on a piece of paper,” senior Jaylin Rice said.

As for Mansfield, her expectations for teaching the class were also poor compared to the more favorable outcome. “It was not as stressful, also because they were all my same age,” Mansfield said. “It was just fun to try something new.”

The lesson undoubtedly taught everyone the skills for how to paint a pretty autumn picture and might have inspired some to create more in the future.
